Moharam Festival Muharram

Tenth of Moharam ul Haram coincides with the martyrdom anniversary of Hazrat Imam Hussain, the grandson of prophet Muhammad (PBUH).

Abu Abdullah Al-Hussain, the son of Hazrat Ali, the fourth Caliph of Islam, rose against the oppression and brutality of Yazid in the year 61, in the month of Moharam ul Haram of the Islamic (lunar) calendar.

He along with his 72 followers were martyred in Karbala, Iraq. Tenth of Moharam ul Haram, also known as Ashora among Muslims worldwide, is a day Muslims commemorate every year.

Men and women go to mosques for prayer and recitation of the holy Quran. The government administration bodies are off in Ashora in most Islamic countries.
